Plant Description: This is a tough, small, compact evergreen shrub that has a magnificent display of large showy pink flowers. It will tolerate extreme conditions, and rarely if ever produces seed, making it safer near bushland.

Height & Width: 50-80cm high x 50-80cm wide.

Foliage: Green foliage.

Flowers: Large showy pink flowers that contrast with the foliage through spring and summer.

Uses: Informal hedge (this plant is ideal for water efficient gardens and landscapes).

Position & Tolerances: Full sun to moderate shade. Drought and frost tolerant. Humidity tolerant. Suits coastal positions and difficult planting sites.

Soil Type: Sandy to well drained clay soils.

Best Planting Time: March to November.

Planting Density: 1-3 plants per linear metre (2-4 plants per m²).

Where it thrives: NSW, QLD, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA, WA and NT.

Pruning: Prune 1-2 times per year after flowering if desired, pruning twice per year will provide a tidier shape.

Establishment & Extra Care: 

  • Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established.
  • Plant in a well mulched garden, a chunky mulch is recommended.
  • Use slow release fertiliser in spring, if required.
