Plant Description: This Callistemon was bred from Little John, but is quicker to establish, easier to grow and has a better foliage colour.
Height & Width: 60cm-1.2m high x 60-90cm wide.
Foliage: Beautiful green foliage with new growth that has silver coloured tones as a result of their soft hairy texture.
Flowers: Small red bottle brush flowers starting in mid-spring and finishing in late spring.
Uses: Small to Medium hedge (also as a specimen or contrast plant).
Position & Tolerances: Full sun to part shade. Drought tolerant and cold hardy. Moderate Myrtle Rust Resistance.
Soil Type: Sandy to well drained soils.
Best Planting Time: March to October.
Planting Density: 1.5-2 plants per linear metre (3-5 plants per m²).
Where it thrives: QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA and WA.
Pruning: Prune every 2 years for a tidy hedge, more regular pruning will result in a tidier, denser hedge. Prune every 3-4 years for a natural shape (if required).
Establishment & Extra Care:
- Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established.
- Plant in a well mulched garden, a chunky mulch is recommended.
- Use slow release fertiliser in spring, if required.
