Plant Description: This Callistemon plant has an ultra-compact form and a fine leaf. It produces masses of showy red flowers and once finished flowering it is self-cleaning, so you don't get that just finished flowering look for very long.
Height & Width: 60cm-1.5m high x 60cm-1m wide (depending on conditions).
Foliage: New growth in autumn and spring shows masses of rustic red colour.
Flowers: Bright red flowers from September to November.
Uses: Small to Medium hedge (also as a specimen shrub).
Position & Tolerances: Full sun to part shade. Drought tolerant and cold hardy.
Soil Type: Most soil types.
Best Planting Time: March to October.
Planting Density: 1-2 plants per linear metre (1-3 plants per m²).
Where it thrives: QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA and WA.
Pruning: Prune 1-2 times per year after flowering for a tidy hedge, or every 2-3 years for a more natural shape.
Establishment & Extra Care:
- Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established.
- Plant in a well mulched garden, a chunky mulch is recommended.
- Use slow release fertiliser in spring, if required.
